Clifton

Twelve hardy players, and travelling supporters, made the trek from windswept Swansea to equally poor weather in Clifton, where they competed with the elements and the English rules.

In the first game against Cleve we started brightly and scored a fine try by working Will into space. Unfortunately Cleve fought back to score two tries, one with the last play of the game to win 2 - 1.

The second game against the hosts was a hard fought encounter with chances on both sides. Clifton scoring the only try to win 1 - 0.

The third game was by far our best team performance against a well drilled and physical Redruth team.  Though Redruth scored two first half tries, we had a number of good passages of play recycling, running and passing well.  The second half was even better with Jake C and Tom T going close in the corner, but touch in goal was given. We drove their scrum off the ball and over their try line on their put in, but unfortunately weren't given the try. The match ended 2 - 0 to Redruth though we were unlucky not to get a result after a great effort.

In the final game an organised Bath team ran in three tries, but we continued to tackle our hearts out.

After a huddle of coaches and parents it was agreed that the team should share the player of the week trophy for the all round performance.  Key elements of play that were encouraging were the positional play of the wings, the scrummaging and the recycling of the ball.
