Mumbles U13s v Penclawdd, Sunday 11am Bishopston

The match on Sunday is a home game against Penclawdd at Bishopston School.  We plan to meet at 10:15 am for an 11:00 am kick-off.  We will ring the leisure centre at 9 to check whether the pitches are ok, so check the blog.

Mumbles U13 v Vardre, at Vardre RFC 11.30 am Sunday 20 October

We have an away game this week-end at Vardre.  They have confirmed they can play and that kick-off is at 11.30 am on their pitch in Clydach (behind Dynamic Rock).  We're a bit low on numbers this week-end so if you're available can you let me know.

The match on Sunday is away at Dunvant.  They have asked for a 10.30 kick-off on Sunday, as Dunvant currently have a reduced number of pitches.  Meet at 9.45 to get organised for the latest big derby.

South Gower vs Mumbles U13s

The match on Sunday is one of the big ones for the season, away at South Gower.  Kick-off is 11am and the match s on their first team pitch directly in front of the club house at South Gower.  Apparently their minis are at home for earlier kick-offs so the advice is park in the village and walk through the lanes, rather than try to get in the club car park.  Meet at 10.15am to give us a chance to get organised and warmed up; we need to start this match firing on all cylinders.

Mumbles v Uplands 35-10

A fantastic committed performance today saw the team come from behind to defeat local rivals Swansea Uplands 35-10.

The match on Sunday is away to Pontarddulais.  We are playing on the pitches at the Comp with a kick-off at 11.00 am.  We will meet at 10.15 am to give us a bit of time to get organised and ready.  There is food back at their club house afterwards.

Llantwit 10s

A good run out for the team at the Llantwit 10s with a record of won 2 lost 2.  The boys made the Bowl Final, but they had played every minute of 4 hard games on a hot day and picked up a few injuries along the way, so we scratched the Bowl Final (and left early with the medals.  Max I have yours).

So well done Kier, Will M, Rhydian, Connor, Max, Harley, Tal, Sean A, Matt S and Luke for a great effort today. Player of the week was Kier on his debut for a committed effort in the tackle (plus some nice drop outs).

Llantwit Fadre meet at 9.45 Sunday 1 September

Llantwit Fadre tournament

Tournament on Sunday

As previously posted we are putting a team in for the Llantwit Fadre 10 aside competition, which will be similar to the Lucton tournament in terms of rules.  It's a chance for a bit of a pre-season run-around. We will need to aim to be to get there for 9.45 as the first game will be 10.30 sharp; typically with all these events the parking is always a problem. Anyway I'll ping around a teamer.

Can the the new players who have joined let me have contact mobile numbers so I can add you to Teamer?  Also if you have a problem getting to the tournament let me know so we can see about arranging lifts.

Llantwit Fadre tournament 1 September

Venue

The tournament will take place on our Cae Fardre pitch. Please turn off Main Road by Fagins pub.

Registration

•

Registration will take place in the control tent, and will commence at 9.30am and must be completed by 10.00am (to enable play to start promptly at 10.30am).

•

A registration form is attached. Complete a form for your team and bring along on the day.

•

Players’ registration cards must be shown at registration. Any player without one will not be allowed to participate in the Tournament. In exceptional circumstances (and we appreciate that this is early in the season) alternative evidence of age and identity MAY be accepted. The decision to allow participation rests with the Tournament Coordinator in case of dispute.

Rules

•

The Tournament will be played under the WRU Under 13s Pathway Rules (subject to the following) that are current on the date of the Tournament; a copy will be available on the day for reference.

•

Matches will be 7 minutes each way with 1 minutes for half time.

•

Teams will be 10 a side (6 forwards, 4 backs) with rolling substitutions

•

There will be no conversions

•

Kicking from hand in open play or ‘fly hacking’ will not be allowed

•

If entering 2 sides you must keep the sides separate i.e. players from team A will not be allowed to play for team B. Details of the teams will need to be handed in at registration

•

There will be two groups and each team will play all teams in their group. The winners of each group will compete in the Cup Final; the runners up in each group will compete in the Plate Final; the 3rd placed teams will contest the Bowl Final. In the group stages there will be 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. In the event of points being even positions in the group table will be determined by:

i)

Head to head record

ii)

Number of tries scored

iii)

Number of tries conceded

If the teams still cannot be separated the order in group will be decided by the toss of a coin

•

The finals will be 10 minutes per half with 1 minute for half time. If the scores are tied then ‘Golden Try’ extra time will be played for a maximum of 10 minutes. If the scores remained tied at the end of extra time the trophy will be shared

•

Squad sizes will not be limited but only 15 medals per team will be provided

Referees

•

Your team should supply one suitably qualified referee who will be available to referee throughout the Tournament. If this is likely to cause a problem please contact us at least 48 hours before the Tournament

•

There will be a briefing meeting for referees on the pitch at 10.15 am.

•

The referee will be the sole judge of time and is responsible for reporting the scores to the relevant pitch marshal. The pitch marshal is responsible for filing the scores at the Control Tent.

•

Should there be any dispute regarding the refereeing decision then the TournamentCoordinator will support and uphold the decision of the referee.

•

Any complaint made by a referee to the Tournament Coordinator concerning abuse in any form from players, coaches, or spectators could result in disqualification of the team concerned.

Tournament Play

•

All teams must report to the correct pitch and be ready to play at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start. Failure to do so may result in the team forfeiting the match.

•

The pitch marshals are responsible for the smooth running of the pitches and will ensure that the timetable is adhered to as far as practical. No game will start before the scheduledstart.

Miscellaneous

•

Food, drinks, chocolates, teas and coffees will be available throughout the day. No independent barbeques are permitted on any part of the Club’s grounds

•

Whilst there is car parking available at Cae Fardre spaces will be limited so try and arrive early. There will be additional parking at Parc Ganol (turn off main road by Roadrunners). Please do not park in the Cae Fardre estate as the roads are narrow and access to emergency vehicles can be affected.

Llantwit Vadre 10 aside tournament, 1 September

We have been invited to the Llantwit Vardre tournament on 1 September and as we don't have a game that way it will be a good chance to have a few shorter games as a warm up for the new season.  More details to follow closer to the date.

South Gower 7s

Another cracking end to the season.  Last night in the gathering gloom the Pirates beat Penclawdd in the Plate Final of the South Gower 7s.  Great effort and a fantastic set of matches to watch.  Well done.

Bonymaen 7s and South Gower 7s

The official result from the Vardre 7s was that we tied the Plate Final with South Gower.

7s at Vardre

The Pirates won their first three 7s matches this evening before losing to Penclawdd.  That saw them to second in the group and a place in the Plate final against South Gower.  In a close game the Pirates led then fell behind before equalising to 14 all in the last minutes of normal time.  One extra half but no golden try could be scored with some fantastic defence from the Pirates.  So when we left in the gathering gloom it looked like the final was tied, we will post the official result. Well done.  Next week Bonymaen! and the 16 May at South Gower if anyone wants to play.

7s at Vardre
